Description
The Square Root Normal Field (SRNF) is a distance function on shape spaces of surfaces in R^3. Unbalanced Optimal Transport (UOT) is a variant of Optimal Transport in which mass is allowed to expand and contract as it is transported from one point to another. In this talk (joint work of Bauer, Hartman and Klassen) we discuss an unexpected relation between the SRNF distance for oriented surfaces in R^3 and UOT for Borel measures on S^2.
