This Summer School aims at introducing Master and Doctoral students to quite a few topics of current research in holomorphic dynamics, ranging from one-variable to several variables, and from iterative to continuous time dynamics. Post-docs applications are also welcome and will receive proper consideration.

The school will feature 5 week-long mini-courses of varying degrees of difficulty and revolving around one of the above mentioned topics. Some courses will take a slightly more advanced standpoint which, in any case, should be accessible to advanced Master students (in the European sense which can be compared to first year graduate students in the American continent). Other courses require less prerequisite and are accessible to undergraduate students (3td year of undergraduate studies in the European system).

The school will start on Monday 26th of June at 09.00 a.m and end on Friday 30th of June at lunch time.

The minicourses featured in the program are:

  • T-C Dihn & V-A Nguyen (National University of Singapore & Université de Lille) -"Theory of Currents and Applications in Dynamics and Foliation Theory, (I) and (II)
  • N. Fagella (Universitat de Barcelona, CRM) - "Transcendental dynamics and bifurcations"
  • T. Gauthier (Laboratoire de Mathématiques d'Orsay) - "Unlikely intersection problems in arithmetic dynamics"
  • R. Roeder (IUPUI - Indianapolis) - "Dynamics of holomorphic and birational group actions on complex surfaces"
  • P. Roesch (Institut de Mathématiques de Toulouse) - "Julia sets of rational maps, examples"

Practical information:

It will take place within the Institut de Mathématiques de Toulouse, in the Amphitheater Laurent Schwartz. A detailed map of campus is available here : Access to campus. The amphitheater is located in building no. 23 on the campus map (rue Sébastienne Guyot).

From downtown, take the Metro B line up to "Université Paul Sabatier" station. The 1R3 mathematics building is two hundred meters away from the Metro station.
