Getting to Coimbra
On the banks of the Mondego River, Coimbra is known for its university, the oldest in Portugal and one of the oldest in Europe, which over time has shaped the image of the city, turning it into a “student city.”
If you are in Coimbra. The Department of Mathematics is located in the main campus of the University Coimbra (UC), known as "Pólo I". This area is served by two city buses: line 28, which connects the center of Coimbra with the historical area of the University; and line 34 (Universidade - Pólo II), which connects two university campuses.
The main campus of the UC is also served by other city buses. The following do not go through the main campus itself, but stop at Arcos do Jardim which is at a 2 minute walk from the Department of Mathematics:
- Line 5: Pedrulha - Estádio
- Line 11: Arnado - Bairro Norton de Matos
- Line 24: Arnado - Quinta da Nora
- Line 24T: Bairro Norton de Matos - Palácio da Justiça

If you are not yet in Coimbra:
- By train: Check the schedules here. You should get off at Coimbra B station. From there, take a taxi or an urban bus on Line 5 or Line 28.
- By bus: Check the schedules here and here. Once at the bus terminal, take a taxi or an urban bus on Line 5 or Line 28. (The terminal is about a 30-minute walk from the Department of Mathematics.)
- By car: The main roads serving the city of Coimbra are A1, A13, IP3, N1, and N17 (Estrada da Beira). Follow the signs for Universidade, which will lead you to Pólo I.
Worskshop
The workshop will take place at the University of Coimbra (UC), in the mathematical department.
