Kinetic theory: from long-range interactions to turbulence and quantum simulators
Workshop 1: Classical Transport and Dynamical Evolution in the Statistical Physics of Long-Range Interaction Systems
March 1 to 5, 2027 - IHP, Paris
Summary
This workshop aims to synthesize established paradigms from classical transport with the overlapping frameworks of quantum dynamics, forging a coherent pathway toward understanding transport phenomena, turbulence, and chaos in strongly correlated quantum matter. Of central observable importance is the interferometric comparison between the mean-field Vlasov description and the collisionally decohered Boltzmann equation—highlighting the nonlocal phase-space structures endemic to long-range interacting systems, in stark contrast with the short-range statistical closures of local theories.
