Description

Symmetric gauge fields mediate the interaction between certain classes of fracton excitations. However, the global symmetries associated with those theories are peculiar because they restrict the free movement of fractons. Their main property is a non-trivial algebra between spacetime generators and "internal" charges. In this talk, I will introduce the hydrodynamic regime of dipole preserving theories, and discuss the properties of symmetric gauge fields on generic curved backgrounds.
