Appeared in the early 1960’s in moduli theory, algebraic stacks gradually became an essential tool in algebraic geometry, incorporating the latest homotopical developments. In this talk we will present the basic notions and examples of 1-algebraic stacks: definition of algebraic stacks and morphisms between them, line bundles on algebraic stacks, quotient stacks, gerbes.
