The geometric Satake equivalence is by now an indispensable tool in the Langlands program. Several versions of this equivalence for different cohomology theories are known, such as Betti cohomology, D-modules and étale cohomology. In this talk, I explain how to apply recent advances in the theory of motives to the construction of a geometric Satake equivalence via Tate motives. One recovers the aforementioned geometric Satake equivalences under suitable realization functors. This is joint work with Jakob Scholbach from Münster.
