(Annulé) Dominik Francoeur: "Maximal subgroups in branch groups"

Europe/Paris
Description

Branch groups are a special class of groups of automorphisms of rooted trees. They play an important role in the classification of just-infinite groups, and they also contain many examples of groups with unusual properties, such as infinite finitely generated periodic groups and groups of intermediate growth. In many cases, maximal subgroups turn out to be an important tool in the study of these groups.

In this talk, we will present what is known about maximal subgroups of branch groups and introduce new result regarding their structure.
