p-adic unit-root formulas and Dwork cohomology

We discuss application of Dwork cohomology to construction of the unit-root crystal attached to a Laurent polynomial and prove congruences of Atkin and Swinnerton-Dyer type relating coefficients of powers of a Laurent polynomial and L-function of its toric exponential sums. This is work in progress jointly with Frits Beukers.
