Nir Lazarovich: Average distortion of commensurators of hyperbolic groups

Abstract: We will discuss isomorphisms between finite index subgroups of hyperbolic groups and their average distortion(to be defined in the talk). I will present the main ingredients in proving that the average distortion of a residually finite rigid hyperbolic group is bounded, and discuss some corollaries.

 

While this talk can be seen as a continuation of the talk I gave in the GGD seminar, in practice it will be independent and I will not assume prior attendance.
