Description

We discuss the quantisation of a real scalar field on the Poincaré patch of an anti–de Sitter (AdS) spacetime within the algebraic approach to quantum field theory. Our goal is twofold. On the one hand, we aim to highlight how the presence of a conformal timelike boundary forces one to select and implement boundary conditions, naturally encoded by a singular Sturm–Liouville problem. We discuss how this choice controls the construction of distinguished ground states with Hadamard short-distance behaviour. On the other hand, we wish to illustrate how boundary conditions can have concrete physical consequences through the response of Unruh–DeWitt detectors, including manifestations such as the anti-Hawking effect in AdS-related black hole geometries.
