Description
Conservation Law is the name given to a certain class of Partial Differential Equations. Systems of Conservation Laws often naturally arise to describe physical phenomena such as shallow water flows, wave propagation or gas dynamics. In fact, inspired by the gas dynamics, Conservation Laws have been a reliable tool in the last 30 years to model traffic flow dynamics.
This talk will serve as an introduction to the theory of Conservation Laws as well as a showcase of how these equations are used in macroscopic traffic modeling. Several numerical simulations are proposed to illustrate the presentation.
