Computations done by Buzzard and Kilford (among others) of slopes of overconvergent modular forms over the rationals has led to great insights into the geometry of the associated eigenvarieties. This is currently an area of great interest in number theory, yet not much is known in the case of Hilbert modular forms. In my talk I wish to discuss some recent computations of slopes of overconvergent Hilbert modular forms and what they suggest about the geometry of the associated eigenvarieties.
