If you wish to submit a thematic programme proposal, kindly follow the guidelines indicated below. 

The selection for thematic programmes takes place in July.

The submission deadlines are May 15th, 2025.

The aim of thematic programmes

The thematic programmes provide in-depth coverage on a cutting-edge research topic over a period of four weeks or six weeks (short programmes). The Institut Henri Poincaré welcomes all fields of mathematics, theoretical physics and computer science, from theory to practical applications, and is also open to other interfaces such as mathematical biology.

IHP’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) will give special consideration to applications related to topics which have not recently been selected for scientific activities at the institute. This includes in particular, but not exhaustively: statistics, scientific computing, high-energy physics, image processing…

The Institut Henri Poincaré is committed to address the gender balance issue and to contribute to improve diversity. Therefore, proposals must pay attention to involving a sensible gender ratio and to ensuring equal opportunity for speakers, participants, and in both the organising committee and the scientific committee.

How to apply

We invite you to submit a 3- to 10-page proposal comprising:

• the title and acronym of the proposal
• a list of the organising committee members
• a list of the scientific committee members
• the international context, scientific impact and interdisciplinary character
• the structure of the programme: one workshop for short programmes, topical days, seminars, general public lectures.
• a list of prospective speakers and participants with their academic affiliation and gender.

Dates & deadlines

The proposals must be submitted no later than May 15th, 2025 for short programmes (4 or 6 weeks) in fall 2028.

Organisers must specify the desired dates and ideally send in their proposals well in advance.

L'objectif des programmes thématiques

L'objectif des programmes thématiques est de développer, sur une période de quatre ou six semaines (programmes courts), une réflexion approfondie autour d'un sujet de recherche de pointe. Tous les domaines des mathématiques, de la physique théorique et de l'informatique, des aspects les plus fondamentaux aux plus appliqués, sont les bienvenus à l'Institut Henri Poincaré, qui souhaite aussi s'ouvrir vers la biologie mathématique.

Le Conseil Scientifique de l'IHP sera notamment sensible aux demandes relevant de thématiques qui n'ont pas fait récemment l'objet d'activités au sein de l'institut. Cela inclut en particulier, de manière non exhaustive : statistique, calcul scientifique, physique des hautes énergies, traitement d'images...

L'IHP s'engage sur les questions de parité et de diversité. Aussi les projets soumis devront tendre à un équilibre entre les hommes et les femmes ainsi qu'à une représentation variée des nationalités dans les listes d'intervenants et de participants potentiels comme dans les compositions de comités (comité d'organisation et comité scientifique).

Comment postuler :

Les organisateurs sont invités à soumettre un projet (de 3 à 10 pages maximum) incluant :

• Le titre du projet et son acronyme
• La composition du comité d'organisation
• La composition du comité scientifique
• Le contexte international, la portée scientifique et le caractère interdisciplinaire
• La structure du programme: un workshops d'une semaine pour les programmes courts, des journées spéciales, des séminaires, des conférences grand public
• Une liste d'intervenants et de participants potentiels avec leur affiliation académique et leur genre.

Processus de sélection et calendrier

Les projets doivent être transmis au plus tard le 15 mai de chaque année. Les organisateurs doivent préciser les dates souhaitées.
