Andreas Thom: Discrete subgroups of full groups (visio)

Abstract: We study discrete subgroups of unitary groups of finite von Neumann algebras and full groups of measure preserving equivalence relations. Partial results are obtained about the existence of maximal discrete subgroups. There are many open questions.
