Description

Carbon nanotubes are usually described using the corresponding atomic lattice and its properties. I will introduce a simplified description based only on symmetries and a continuum field theory approach derived from the study of compact extra dimensions, which allows to recover in a simple way some of the standard results obtained in condensed matter applications.
