Multidimensional systems provide a natural framework for the modeling of phenomena involving several independent variables. Among the most widely studied representations, the Roesser and Fornasini–Marchesini models play a central role in the analysis of two-dimensional systems. In this talk, we first review some classical stability results available in the discrete setting, with an emphasis on structural, asymptotic and exponential stability. We then present recent developments and ongoing work concerning continuous multidimensional systems, together with several open questions and perspectives.
