Description

There is a remarkable collection of   infinite-dimensional  Lie algebras (Virasoro, Heisenberg, infinite-dimensional analogues of gl(N), W_(1+infinity), affine gl_(N)), that are not only favorite subjects of representation theory,  but are closely connected to each other. In this  talk we will review these connections  using  the language  of formal distributions and  apply them to describe explicitly  actions of these of these algebraic structures on the space of  on symmetric  functions.
