Description

In algebraic topology, we use several types of structures in order to study geometric objects. These structures themselves can have some nice property that makes the study of these objects easier. But in order to talk about properties of structures, the best thing would be to have a type of objects that encode structures ! That is when operads arrive, these are objects that encode algebraic structures : for example there is an operad A that encodes the structure of associative algebras. Moreover, the "nice property" of the structure will translate into a precise property of the operad.
