Categorical Enumerative Invariants and Involutive Bi Lie Algebras

We begin by recalling the work of Costello, Caldararu-Tu on extracting “enumerative”, Gromov-Witten like invariants from a Calabi-Yau category.  We then review the construction of an IBL algebra on cyclic words of an A_infty-algebra with pairing - a topic that is, a priori, unrelated, but whose analogy to the previous framework we make clear. We continue with recent and ongoing work by the speaker on combining both threads. One motivation is the proposed relation between the Gromov-Witten invariants of the resolved conifold and large N Chern-Simons theory, as suggested by Gopakumar-Vafa.
