On path space functionals

The talk will cover several approaches to describing path space functionals in a smooth manifold. One of them is based on the use of iterated integrals. The (differential) algebra behind this calculus will be described. In the case of a flat affine space, discretization of the calculus of functionals is possible. The latter approach will be applied to the problem of calculating invariants under the action of an affine transformation group. The talk is based on joint work with Yaroslav Bazaikin and Thomas Strobl.
