Description

The direct detection of gravitational waves by the LIGO experiment in 2015 has open a new way to probe the Universe and the gravitational interaction.

During this seminar, after a quick presentation of the concepts related to gravitational waves, I will present the current experiments for detection of gravitational waves, as well as the prospective ones. I will also describe phenomena generating gravitational waves, with an emphasis on gravitational waves emitted by black holes and cosmological phenomena, and show that similarly to the detection of electromagnetic waves of any wavelength, the future of gravitational wave detection will allow us to probe New Physics.
