The presentation will be structured around the Atiyah-Singer index theorem. We will begin by discussing the concept of the index of Fredholm operators in general, followed by some of its basic properties. Then, we will take an algebraic detour to introduce K-theory and its framework for calculating the index. We will conclude by providing a hands-on example of an index theorem in a simple setting.
