The discrete Painlevé equations in models for random partitions.

In this seminar we are going to see how a specific instance of the discrete Painlevé II equations appear in the Poissonized Plancherel model for integer partitions, a classical result from 2000 (Borodin, Adler-Van Moerbeke-Baik). Time permitting, we will see certain generalizations of this result.
