Isoperimetric and spectral problems with nonlocal competing term

Many physical models present the competition between an attractive term and a disaggregating one. In this talk we briefly review some of these problems from the perspective of the calculus of variations, and some of the techniques which can be used to solve them. We will particularly focus on models where the attractive term is a spectral energy.
