Description
One of the most successful approaches to the Quantum Hall effect (QHE) is to postulate trial N-particle wave functions, called QH states. The physics of QHE can be inferred when wave functions are defined on Riemann surfaces, with an arbitrary genus, metric, moduli etc, and for the large number of particles N. I will also explain that large N asymptotics aspect of the problem involves probabilistic constructions such as gaussian free fields.
