DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Ari Rappaport (LJLL\, Sorbonne Université)\n\nCompu
ting electromagnetic waves in heterogeneous and anisotropic materials requ
ires solving large\, challenging linear systems. This talk presents two-le
vel overlapping Schwarz methods for the time-harmonic Maxwell equations\,
combining parallel local solves with a global coarse correction.\nI will d
iscuss quantitative GMRES convergence estimates that make explicit the dep
endence on frequency\, material contrast\, absorption\, and the domain dec
omposition parameters. These estimates give sufficient conditions on the s
ubdomain and coarse mesh sizes for effective preconditioning. Numerical ex
periments explore these predictions\, showing how coarse refinement can co
mpensate for material contrast and where the theoretical conditions are co
nservative. A parallel absorbing-coating simulation with over seven millio
n unknowns in 3D illustrates the method's performance beyond the analytica
l setting.\nJoint work with Marcella Bonazzoli\, Patrick Ciarlet\, and Axe
 l Modave.\n\nhttps://indico.math.cnrs.fr/event/17540/
