 f a symmetric space whose translates under the action of the relevant arit
 hmetic group cover the entire space. In this talk\, we consider an analogu
 e for the p-adic period spaces introduced by Rapoport and Zink. We give a 
 partial criterion for the existence of a Siegel domain and discuss its exp
