 early cancer detection and treatment can reduce cancer-specific mortality\
 , cancer screening may also lead to overdiagnosis and overtreatment\, part
 icularly in prostate and breast cancer. Emerging technologies such as magn
 etic resonance imaging (MRI) and personalized screening strategies are exp
 ected to mitigate these drawbacks\, but their clinical and population-leve
 l benefits remain to be fully demonstrated.\nTo evaluate the effectiveness
  and improve the efficiency of cancer screening programs\, advanced statis
 tical approaches such as joint models and multistate Markov models are inc
 reasingly used. However\, these methods still face important methodologica
 l and computational challenges.\nSamuel Gruffaz recently started the Marie
  Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship "Markov for Screening" at Tampe
 re University\, within a research team conducting one of the largest recen
 t national randomized controlled trials on prostate cancer screening. As p
 art of the fellowship\, he will also undertake a secondment at Bordeaux Po
 pulation Health under the supervision of Cécile Proust-Lima.\nIn this pre
 sentation\, he will discuss the key methodological challenges addressed by
  the project\, present preliminary results\, and highlight opportunities f
