DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Viola Gattus (Technische Universität München\, All
emagne)\n\nThis talk will begin with the basic geometric formulation of ga
 uge theories\, introducing field space\, gauge orbits\, and orbit-adapted
coordinates that distinguish physical degrees of freedom from gauge direct
ions.\nBuilding on this framework\, we will examine the Vilkovisky–DeWit
t construction of the gauge-invariant effective action\, with particular e
mphasis on the connection between gauge-fixing independence and reparametr
isation invariance in field space. The discussion will then turn to applic
ations in Yang–Mills theory and quantum gravity. Finally\, the talk will
explore aspects of the Zassenhaus formula and its potential as an alterna
tive computational approach to methods based on heat-kernel coefficients.\
nThe talk is intended as an accessible introduction to the geometry underl
ying gauge-independent effective actions\, complemented by selected applic
 ations and computational techniques.\n\nhttps://indico.math.cnrs.fr/event/
