DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Pierre Heidmann (Ohio State University\, USA)\n\nBla
ck holes are among the most fascinating objects in our universe\, yet thei
r fundamental nature remains mysterious. In this talk\, I will discuss top
ological solitons: smooth\, ultra-compact gravitational objects supported
by non-trivial spacetime topology and extra dimensions. I will explain how
they may provide new insights into the microscopic structure of black hol
es and quantum gravity\, and how their distinctive signatures could potent
ially be probed through black-hole imaging and gravitational-wave observat
 ions.\n\nhttps://indico.math.cnrs.fr/event/16921/
