Description
Completely integrable systems first emerged as models for the space of solutions of classical mechanical systems with symmetries. While their local structure is now well understood, their global structure remains largely mysterious, especially in dimension greater than or equal to six.
In this talk, I will first give a simple, intuitive, and geometric introduction to completely integrable systems. I will then present a six-dimensional physical system known as the Tavis–Cummings model, which is notably used in quantum information theory, and in which we proved the existence of an A_2-type singularity — a type of singularity that had never previously been observed in a completely integrable system.
