DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Antonin Chambolle (CEREMADE)\n\nFlow matching is an
alternative to diffusion methods for sampling fromunknown distributions (o
f given datasets). While almost equivalent inthe standard case\, it has th
e advantage that it can be applied to anyinitial coupling between two dist
ributions\, and in particular in arepeated way\, which is the idea of "rec
tified" flow matching. Thisapproach is claimed to be a way to compute opti
mal transport\, which istrue only under strong (unverifiable) conditions.
We analyse thisprocess and give examples which show that it should not\, i
n general\,converge to optimal transport. On the other hand\, the "minibat
ch" basedoptimisation of rectified flow matching might be a way to approxi
mateoptimal transport\, but this also relies on unverifiable conditions\,a
lthough less strong than the previous. This is joint work with JulieDelon
 and Johannes Hertrich.\n\nhttps://indico.math.cnrs.fr/event/16553/
