Description
Given two functions defined in a neighbourhood of a complex singularity of dimension 2, their linear combinations define a pencil of curves on the singular surface. Generically, these curves have the same topology; it changes only for certain linear combinations. We describe the values that produce these changes in terms of the pencil's resolution.
This work is an extension, to the case of surfaces that are not necessarily normal, of results known for normal singularities of surfaces.
This is the content of the doctoral thesis of the late Gonzalo Barranco, under joint supervision of M. Spivakovsky and myself.
