Title:Quid of Braids?
Abstract:Braids are topological objects introduced to simplify the treatment of knots and links, yet being rigid enough to yield a rich algebraic structure. In this talk, we will explore the connection between braids and links, and explain how representations of the braid group can produce knot invariants — and even motivate tools that extend to the study of surfaces and 3-manifolds.
