DESCRIPTION:About the ProHyp Conference\nThis is the 4th edition of the bi
annual workshop on Perspectives on Multiphase Fluid Dynamics\, Continuum
Mechanics and Hyperbolic Balance Laws. After the previous three editions
held in Magdeburg in 2020\, Marseille in 2022 and Trento in 2024\, it is o
ur pleasure to welcome you in Strasbourg for the 2026 edition which will b
e held from June 1st to June 5th at the University of Strasbourg. \nWe ar
e very happy to announce that this year's event will be joint with the \n
\n8th Workshop on Compressible Multiphase flows\n\nan annual conference he
ld at the Institute de recherche mathématique avancée (IRMA) of the Univ
ersity of Strasbourg\, also known as EDF-IRMA Multiphase workshop\, see th
e previous editions in 2023\, 2024 and 2025\, as well as the proceedings f
rom the first workshop in 2018\, the second in 2019 and the third and four
th in 2021 and 2022. \nProgram and book of abstracts\nProgram at a glance

link\n[updated 22/05/26: minor program changes Monday and Friday]\nObjecti
ves and Topics\nThe objective of the workshop is to bring together theoret
icians\, modelling and numerical scientists working on multiphase flows\,
hyperbolic equations and continuum mechanics. The topics include\, but not
only\, \n\nModelling\, analysis and numerical simulation of multiphase f
lows\nAdvances in hyperbolic models of continuum mechanics and thermodynam
 ics\nStructure-preserving numerical methods for time-dependent PDEs\nFree
boundary problems and interface motions\nPhase transition processes\nModel
ling and numerical simulation of flows with surface tension\n\nIn particul
ar\, the modeling\, analysis and numerical treatment of multiphase fluid d
ynamics and multi-physics models from continuum mechanics provide several
difficult problems which have been subject to past research but are still
posing interesting research questions in current and future research. Ofte
n\, very problem-specific approaches revealing different mathematical stru
ctures are used\, making it difficult to provide a unified treatment of th
ese topics.\nRecently the interest in works that propose a unified approac
h is growing. These lead to symmetric hyperbolic systems in the sense of F
riedrichs which are derived from physical principles. These hyperbolic mod
els are capable of describing multiphase fluid dynamics as well as continu
um mechanics including heat conduction and viscosity which are typically s
econd order effects.\nMoreover\, the goal is to share modelling methods\,
difficulties\, (rigorous or more phenomenological) analysis\, allowing the
description of multiphase flows with exchanges (mass transfer\, energy ex
change…) and apparition of shock waves. \n\nPARTNERS\n
