Description

In this talk, we will consider a fluid-particle system describing the motion of kinetic particles in a fluid. Such a model arises naturally in the study of aerosols, sprays, and more generally two-phase flows. The fluid is modelled by the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, whilst $N$ stochastic particles interact with the fluid via the Stokes drag force. As the number of particles $N$ tends to infinity, we present a convergence rate for the empirical measures of the particles and the fluid velocity towards the Vlasov-Navier-Stokes system.
