Random matrix models for meanders

After reviewing the combinatorial definition of meanders, I will discuss a simple random matrix model that is governed by the same combinatorial objects. If time allows, I will discuss the question of the rank of these random matrices, relating it to the quantum max-flow / min-cut problem.
