 results regarding 1D scalar conservation laws with smooth spatial heteroge
 neity. A particuliar focus is given to the finite volume approximation of 
 these equations where the theory of discontinuous flux is exploited to bui
 ld new schemes.The Burgers equation with multiplicative spatial heterogene
