A Finite Volume Scheme for Compactly Heterogeneous Scalar Conservation Laws

We present recent results regarding 1D scalar conservation laws with smooth spatial heterogeneity. A particuliar focus is given to the finite volume approximation of these equations where the theory of discontinuous flux is exploited to build new schemes.
The Burgers equation with multiplicative spatial heterogeneity will be used to illustrate the construction.
