 iscuss the local energy decay for the (possibly damped) wave equation in t
 he asymptotically Euclidean setting. The analysis is based on resolvent es
 timates\, in particular for the contribution of low frequencies. In even d
 imensions we provide the asymptotic profile\, which improves the optimal e
 stimates. In odd dimensions we improve the best known estimates. This is a
