Homogeneous quadratic fields in C^2 and triangular billiards

In this talk we describe a dictionary between a family of (holomorphic) homogeneous quadratic fields in C^2 and translation surfaces defined by unfolding a triangular billiard.  This dictionary translates the dynamics of the real part of the quadratic field to the dynamics of the  (horizontal) translation flow in the translation surface.
