DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Thibaut Lemoine\n\nProbabilistic aspects of gauge/st
ring duality on the torus:\nThe gauge/string duality is a physical princip
le described by a correspondence between observables from gauge theory (ra
ndom matrices) and string theory (random surfaces)\, and it is still an ac
tive field in particle physics. In this talk\, I will present one of the f
irst rigorous mathematical results about this duality: the Yang-Mills part
ition function on a torus with structure group a compact classical group a
dmits an asymptotic expansion which can be rewritten as an integral on a s
pace of ramified coverings of the torus\, which was conjectured by Gross a
nd Taylor in the 90s. Beyond physical motivations\, the goal of this talk
will be to highlight the role of random partitions in the proof of this co
rrespondence\, which reveals its inherently probabilistic nature. Based on
previous and ongoing works with Mylène Maïda (Université de Lille).\n\
