DESCRIPTION:\nInstability phenomena are recognized as an important feature
  of the study of fluid dynamics.\nIn recent years\, the case of geophysica
 l fluids\, covering a wide range going from oceanography to astrophysics\,
  has attracted the attention of an always increasing number of physicists 
 and mathematicians.\nThis workshop\, co-organized in Rome by the LYSM\, IR
 L CNRS-INdAM\, and the Accademia Nazionale delle Scienze detta dei XL\, br
 ings together mathematicians and physicists around the problem of instabil
 ities in fluid mechanics. It will include two morning mini-courses and sev
 eral afternoon research talks leaving a wide time for discussions.\nMathem
 atical\, experimental and numerical results will be presented in order to
